Trisha Bularzik joined TriCity Family Services in the summer of 2021, and became the Intern Program Supervisor in August 2023. She is passionate about empowering her clients to reach their goals, and helping support her interns to gain the experience and confidence to do the same.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Iowa State University, Bularzik earned her master’s in social work from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed internships at Kingdom House, where she worked with Head Start families and a maternal mental health group for Hispanic women, and Kids in the Middle, where she co-facilitated both school-based and agency-based groups on a variety of topics such as divorce, grief, parental incarceration, and community violence. Before joining TCFS, she worked as a school-based mental health therapist in large urban public elementary, middle, and high school settings. Bularzik has experience with a variety of issues including trauma, anxiety, and depression. She works primarily using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She strives to use a strengths-based, trauma informed approach to help people process through life’s difficulties and empower them to effectively communicate their needs. By creating a warm, non-judgmental therapeutic space, Bularzik aims to empower her clients to explore their emotions and make their own decisions.
In her spare time, Bularzik enjoys listening to music/podcasts, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Cubs and Iowa State Cyclones.
