Jonny Silva joined TriCity Family Services in May 2023 as a full-time therapist. He completed his undergraduate degree in social work from Western Kentucky University in 2020 and earned his Master of Social Work with a specialization in clinical practice from the University of Kentucky in 2023. Prior to joining the agency, Silva worked at Mutual Ground in Aurora as a Family Support Counselor, providing Nurturing Families™ parenting classes and case management for individuals across the state. At the same time, Silva was a case manager on the Victim Services Unit at Association for Individual Development (AID). Within this role, Silva was a social worker with Chicagoland police and fire departments. He provided community members with on-scene support as many faced natural disasters, grief, crime, mental health crises, and trauma. Silva has an established background in frontline child welfare and is passionate about being fully present for youth in foster care or complex family situations.
Silva found his passion working with teens and adults experiencing a wide array of concerns including depression, anxiety, life changes, grief, and more. Silva utilizes an array of therapeutic techniques that are client-centered, and strengths focused. Silva hopes to empower clients to find hope and meaning in the midst of difficult life challenges.
As an Illinois native, Silva is thrilled to be back home in the Chicagoland area after seven amazing years in “The Bluegrass State” of Kentucky. In his free time, Silva enjoys taking boxing classes, reading, traveling, and exploring new restaurants.
