Shannon Mayer is a part-time Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing Social Work for over 17 years. Shannon received her Masters in Social Work from Arizona State University, and her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University. Shannon has worked in many different realms of the Social Work world–a residential treatment facility, case management, specialty intake assessment of children ages birth-5, teaching graduate school, inpatient psychiatric social work, and outpatient therapy. Shannon specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults and their families struggling with anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, adjustment disorders, conduct disorders, learning disabilities, and chemical dependency/substance abuse. Shannon uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brief Strategic Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Play/Art therapy, all depending on meeting the individual needs of her client. Shannon works to always use the client/family-centered approach to support her clients in reaching their therapeutic treatment goals. Shannon partners with her clients and families, validates, and empowers them to ensure long term success and an overall healthy well-being.
Shannon currently resides in Geneva with her husband, 3 kids, and dog. She enjoys cheering her kids on at sports and dance, exercising at the gym, reading, and is a huge concert fan- music brings her joy.
