Barbara joined TriCity Family Services in the summer of 2024, having previously completed a 6-month internship with TCFS in 2023, as well as an internship with Fox Valley Hands of Hope, a community grief counseling organization, in 2022. After obtaining her Master’s degree in social work in 2023 from Aurora University, she worked for a family private practice before joining TriCity Family Services full-time. Barbara also worked in the field of human resources for many years, before pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a clinical therapist.
Barbara has an integrative approach that draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family/Systemic Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Insight-Oriented therapy, and other modalities. Barbara integrates play and art therapy-based techniques as well, especially with younger clients. Barbara believes strongly in a collaborative approach to help her clients recognize and use their unique strengths and values to heal in a way that is meaningful to them.
In her spare time, Barbara loves cooking and baking, hiking, singing, enjoying the arts, and spending time with her family and friends. She is an aspiring world-traveler who typically settles for a Midwest road trip.
